Our Services
At your first visit, I carry out an assessment of your feet, which includes cutting and filing your nails and some of the treatments described below.
All visits end with a brief massage and moisturizing of your feet to ensure creating happy soles.
Happy Soles treatments include
When natural moisture from the skin is lost or dries out, this can lead to shrinkage of the skin causing fissures (often on the heel). This can be treated in the initial stages with regular moisturising but may need to be removed.
Hard and thickened nail treatment
Hard and thick nails can be painful and uncomfortable when wearing close-fitting shoes. These will be thinned to prevent pain and discomfort.
Verruca Treatment
A verruca is a type of wart found on the sole of the foot, caused by a virus and can be very painful. They are more common when the body’s immune system is run down or low. They can sometimes heal naturally by themselves but may require intervention. If treatment is required, we will pare back the hard skin build up around them to relieve pain and apply an additional treatment such at Verrutop. Other treatments are available such as needling, freezing (Cryotherapy) and microwave therapy (Swift) but not offered by Happy Soles. These can be provided by Podiatrists and other Foot Health Practitioners.
More information about the treatment of verruca can be found on the NICE (the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence - https://www.nice.org.uk) website who advice only treating verruca if they are causing problems or pain.
Ingrown toenails
When the toenail pushes against the surrounding tissue, is can cause a lot of pain and discomfort. The nail can break through the soft tissue of the toe adding to the risk of infection. The ingrowing edge will be cut away, allowing the nail to regrow in the correct direction.
Removal of Corns and Calluses
Corns are caused by rubbing of the skin on the feet and are normally found on the ball of the foot and between the toes. Calluses are hard patches of rough, thick skin often found on the ball and the heel. These can be painful and will be removed.
Athletes Foot Treatment
Athletes Foot is a common skin infection of the feet caused by a fungus. It can be treated using anti-fungal sprays, creams, or powders. We will advice you on the most appropriate treatment.
Fungal Nail infection Treatment
Fungal nail infection will normally appear first in the big toe (the Hallux) and can spread across to other toes on the foot causing discolouration, thickening, and even crumbling of the nail. The nail should be trimmed, shaped, and reduced while treatment takes effect to avoid further damage to other nails.
I am a qualified practitioner in delivering the Lacuna Method Fungal Nail Treatment. This is a more specialist treatment which provides longer term benefits for fungal nails. (What is the Lacuna Method Fungal Nail Treatment?)
